We service Daikin heat pumps across Orlando, and in most cases we have the replacement part on the truck that same day. Installed pricing for common Daikin heat pump repairs runs $150 to $650 depending on the component, and every job starts with a written price before we touch anything. Most Orlando owners discover a failing part the same way: the heat pump still runs but the air coming out isn’t as cold as it was last summer, or the outdoor unit starts making a sound that wasn’t there in April.
Luis Serrano has worked on Daikin equipment in Central Florida for more than two decades, and he’ll tell you the same thing he tells every customer: “Tell me what you’re hearing, and I’ll tell you what it’s going to cost – before we start.” That’s how we do every Daikin heat pump service call in Orlando. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Daikin, which means our loyalty runs to the family in the house, not the factory warranty calendar.
Which Daikin Models This Applies To
Our Orlando service covers the full Daikin heat pump lineup: the FIT series, the VRV and VRV LIFE systems, the DZ series (DZ17VS, DZ18TC, DZ16TC, DZ14SA), and the compact Emura and Aurora lines. Parts compatibility matters more on Daikin than most people realize. A DZ18TC reversing valve coil is not interchangeable with the DZ17VS part, even though both are “Daikin heat pumps.” We check the model plate, the serial range, and often the wiring harness revision before ordering or pulling a part.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see most often in Orlando: Daikin inverter-driven systems use proprietary DC compressor control boards that communicate with the indoor unit. If your board fails and someone installs a generic “universal” replacement, the compressor will run but the modulation stops working. Your system will short-cycle, your humidity will climb, and your electric bill will show it within a month. We stock OEM Daikin boards and the few quality aftermarket parts we trust, and we’ll show you the difference in writing before you decide.

Signs Your Daikin Heat Pump Service Is Failing
- Outdoor unit runs but air isn’t cold. This usually points to a failing capacitor, a refrigerant leak, or a dirty coil. With Daikin inverter systems, it can also mean the compressor isn’t ramping up because the control board is sending the wrong signal.
- You hear a hum, click, and then nothing. Classic start-capacitor failure. Daikin units push capacitors hard in Orlando heat, and we replace more of these in August than in the other eleven months combined.
- The system trips the breaker repeatedly. This can be a failing compressor or a shorted control board. Either way, stop resetting the breaker and call us. Each trip stresses the electronics and can turn a $200 board replacement into a $1,400 compressor job.
- Cold air comes out, but the house stays humid. A telltale sign the inverter board is no longer modulating properly, or the thermistor that reads refrigerant temperature has drifted out of spec. Orlando humidity will make a malfunctioning Daikin feel 10 degrees warmer than it is.
- Ice forms on the outdoor coil in summer. Low refrigerant, a failing expansion valve, or a dead defrost sensor. Normal heat pumps frost in winter and defrost automatically. In August, ice means something is wrong and it won’t fix itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most Daikin heat pump repairs across Orlando land between $150 and $650. The low end covers things like capacitors, contactors, thermistors, and pressure switches. The high end covers control boards, reversing valve coils, fan motors, and some sensors. A full compressor replacement is the exception, not the rule, and we’ll quote that separately and in writing before any work begins.
Every repair price we give includes the part, the labor, the clean-up, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise behind the whole thing. If the same part fails within a year because of something we did, we fix it at no charge. No fine print, no runaround. We also carry a rolling stock of common Daikin parts on our Orlando trucks: capacitors, contactors, thermistors, pressure switches, and several control boards. If we don’t have it on the truck, most parts arrive from our local supply house by the next morning.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check three things before calling: make sure the thermostat is set to “cool” and not “fan,” confirm the breaker hasn’t tripped, and glance at the outdoor unit to see if the fan is spinning. That’s where owner inspection should end. Daikin heat pumps contain high-voltage capacitors that hold a charge even after the power is off, and contact with those terminals can stop a heart. We’re not being dramatic. That capacitor stores enough juice to seriously injure you, and it doesn’t care how handy you are.
Beyond the electrical risk, there’s the practical reality: Daikin inverter systems run on proprietary signaling between the indoor and outdoor boards. You can’t diagnose those signals with a voltage meter from the hardware store. We’ve seen well-meaning Orlando homeowners replace a capacitor themselves, only to learn the real problem was a control board. They bought a part they didn’t need and the problem came back that weekend. Save yourself the trip to the parts counter and the shock risk. Call us at (850) 845-8659 and we’ll get a background-checked technician to your Orlando driveway today.
FAQs
Most Daikin components are engineered for 12 to 15 years, but Orlando’s heat and humidity knock that down to 8 to 12 in real-world use. Capacitors and contactors usually fail first, often between years 5 and 8. Call (850) 845-8659 and we’ll inspect your system and tell you in plain English which parts are aging out and which ones still have life left.
Almost never, and that’s a good thing. A failed capacitor, board, or pressure switch gets replaced, not patched, because repaired electronics fail unpredictably and leave you with a hot house on the worst possible day. We’ll hand you the old part and show you exactly what failed before we install the new one.
Most single-part replacements take one to two hours from diagnosis to final test. Control board jobs run closer to two hours because we verify communication between the indoor and outdoor units before we pack up. We’ll give you a written time estimate when we arrive, and we finish within that window in the vast majority of cases.
We keep common Daikin parts on our Orlando trucks: capacitors, contactors, thermistors, pressure switches, and several control boards for the DZ and FIT lines. If your part isn’t on the truck, most arrive from our local Central Florida supply house by the next morning. Call (850) 845-8659 and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can fix it today or tomorrow.
If your Daikin heat pump is running rough, call us at (850) 845-8659. We’ll answer live, talk through what you’re seeing, and schedule a visit with a written price before we start. Shoe covers and drop cloths go down before the tool bag opens, and we’ll send you a photo of the clean-up before we leave. That’s the Meadowsweet standard for every Daikin heat pump service call in Orlando.
